Dr. Ashraf Messiha
Main areas of surgical practice.
Mr Messiha completed qualifications in Medicine and Dentistry. This was followed by General Surgical training before returning to the London Deanery Higher Surgical Training program in Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgery at St George’s Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital (Imperial), Kent and Canterbury University Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead), and the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
Ash was awarded the Intercollegiate Specialty Board FRCS in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and pursued his interest subject in Facial Deformity. He travelled extensively to further his experience in facial aesthetics in particular facial reanimation and septorhinoplasty.
He was appointed in a substantive Consultant position at Northwick Park Hospital and St Mary’s London University Hospital. He developed services in Post Traumatic Facial Deformity, Orthognathic surgery, Rhinoplasty, TMJ Surgery and was Lead in facial trauma surgery as well as facial skin cancers and orofacial rehabilitation. In addition, he has vast experience in oral surgery and implantology, placement of zygomaticus implants as well as virtual surgery in the placement of multiple implants in complex cases.
Mr Messiha subsequently joined the team at St George’s Hospital, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals. He is a core member of the Cranio-Orbito-Facial deformity Multidisciplinary Team as well as the Joint Orthognathic team. Ash has specialised practice in Arthroscopy, open TMJ surgery, TMJ Replacement, Orthognathic surgery for both routine and for OSAS cases.
Ash has been a Council Member of the Royal Society of Medicine and has an active role as the Educational Lead for Pan London Oral and Maxillofacial Faculty at the London Deanery. He has an active interest in clinical research and has supervised a number of projects in surgical anatomy in collaboration with Imperial Medical School as well as St George’s Hospital.
Dr. Ayşegül M. Tüzüner

Prof. Dr. Ayşegül M. Tüzüner, graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry (2000) after she finished the TED Ankara Collage, Private High School. She finished the combined PhD and specialty program of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Ankara University, Faculty of Dentistry. In 2009, she made a fellowship on ‘Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Primary and Secondary Cleft lip and Palate Surgery, Orthognathic Surgery and Facial Reconstruction’ in Dalhousie University, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Queen Elizabeth II Health Center and IWK Children Hospital, Halifax, Novascotia, Canada. She had the degree of Assoc. Prof. Dr. in Ankara University, Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2012. She had the full Professor title in February 2018. Dr. Tuzuner has internationally and nationally, 49 scientific publications, 88 presentations, 9 invited speaker presentations and more than 90 reported citations.

He was born in 1982, Eskisehir. He completed his primary and high school education in Ankara. After he finished his dentistry education in Hacettepe University, he started as resident assistant at Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of the same faculty in 2005. in 2011, he graduated as PhD with the thesis, that name is "Histomorphometrical and Radiological Comparison of Low Level Laser Therapy Effects on Distraction Osteogenesis: Experimental study". He carried out his military service in Gulhane Military Medical Academy Turkish Armed Forces Rehabilitation Hospital between April 2011 and March 2012. Now he is working in Kocaeli University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral&Maxillofacial Surgery as Head of Department. He is married and has two children.

Dr. Cankaya is an associate professor in Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry. Dr.Cankaya finished undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2000. Dr. Çağrı DELİLBAŞI graduated from TED Ankara College in 1992 and from Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry in 1997. He completed his PhD at Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery between 1997-2001. He was granted for Japanese Governmental scholarship between 2001-2003 at Osaka University. He worked at Yeditepe University as a lecturer and associate professor between 2003-2011. Since 2011 he has been at İstanbul Medipol University school of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a professor and head of the department. Erol CANSIZ was graguated from Marmara University, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul, Turkey in 2007. Dr. Hanefi Kurt
New horizon about splint treatment for temporomandibular disorders
He was born in 1974 in Muğla. He completed elementary, middle, and high school education in Muğla. He started Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 1992 and completed the programme in 1997. In the same year, he started to a PhD programme in Department of Prosthodontics in the same university. He presented his PhD thesis which is titled as “Evaluation of efficiency of conservative treatment methods for rehabilitation of disc deplacement with reduction” in 2005, and continued working in the same department as Dr. Res. Asst. until 2011. He studied in Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Poliklinik für Zahnärztliche Prothetik , as a visiting fellow in year 2010. He has been working at Department of Prosthodontics of School of Dentistry in Istanbul Medipol University, since 2011. Prof. Dr. Hanefi Kurt, who has been working on rehabilitation of temporomandibular disorders for long years, is married and has one child.
Dr. Helen Witherow
Facial rejuvenation and the role of Orthognathic surgery.
Helen Witherow is a Senior Consultant in the Oral and Maxillofacial department at St George’s, and ASPH Hospital. St George’s hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Unit and one of the largest teaching hospitals in London.
After studying Dentistry at University of Birmingham, Medicine at Bristol Medical School and completing maxillofacial surgery training, she undertook at fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.
Her areas of specialization include facial and craniofaicial deformity, skull base access, surgical dermatology, Orthognathic surgery,facial feminization and post traumatic defect correction, as well as dentoalveolar surgery. Helen has published widely in Peer review journals and has contributed to several books. She has adapted a technique using submental intubation for orthognathic surgery, which allows full visualization of the face without a nasal tube. This technique reduces some of the unwanted nasal changes that can occur with maxillary osteotomies.
Helen is a keen teacher and has in the past run the Pan-London maxillofacial teaching . She was appointed Training Program Director for South London and in 2015 Helen was voted the National Trainer of the Year by BAOMS.
Helen Witherow works with the charity “Facing The World”, which provides craniofacial surgery for congenital and acquired disorders, both working in Vietnam and in providing fellowships in London for doctors from Vietnam.

Mr Rahul Jayaram is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a sub-speciality interest in Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery. He qualified in both Medicine and Dentistry, and was awarded several scholarships, medals, distinctions and academic merits during his graduate and postgraduate education. His higher surgical training was based at St George's, Guys and Kings College Hospitals in London. Following completion of specialist training and achievement of the FRCS (OMFS) he embarked on International fellowships in Hamburg and Sydney.
Rahul undertook the prestigious Chris O'Brien Fellowship at the world class Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute. This year provided a comprehensive experience in ablative head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstructive surgery, perforator based free tissue transfers, melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, trans oral robotic surgery, dynamic facial reanimation techniques, salivary gland and thyroid surgery.
He was awarded the prestigious British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO) and the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) travel awards for a visiting fellowship in Trans Oral Robotic Surgery in Hamburg, Germany.
Mr Jayaram is a Core Member of the South West London Head and Neck and Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary teams. He has widely published and presented at both national and international meetings. His clinical and research interests include virtual surgical planning and customised patient specific reconstruction, structural fat grafting, Transoral robotic surgery and dynamic facial reanimation. Ginwallah Oration, the highest oration of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India and the highly esteemed Dr R Ahmed Oration, the highest Oration of the Indian Dental Association. He has been awarded the Brammaiah Sastri Award for ground breaking research findings in the field of reconstructive surgery using bone morphogenetic proteins by the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists.

Dr.Tatli is currently working as a full-time Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cukurova University School of Dentistry in Adana/Turkey. He received his dentistry education at Hacettepe University School of Dentistry (Ankara/Turkey) and his residency education at Cukurova University School of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Adana/Turkey).
Dr.Tatli has a total of 48 published articles in peer-reviewed journals, 51 oral/poster presentations published in proceeding books of international scientific congress, and 11 invited lectures in scientific meetings. He also wrote three book chapters. One of these book chapters is about Temporomandibular Joint Disorders in which he did authorship together with his colleague Dr. Vladimir Machon from Prague/Czech Republic who is one of the well-known TMJ surgeons in Europe. Moreover, Dr.Tatli played active role as organization committee member and instructor for the Cukurova Orthognathic Surgery Cadaver Courses in 2016 and 2018 in Adana/Turkey.
Dr.Tatli also has international fellowship and visiting professorship experiences. He completed AO/ASIF Craniomaxillofacial Surgery Fellowship at the Hannover Medical School Department of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (Head: Prof.Dr.Dr. Nils-Claudius Gellrich) in Hannover/Germany in 2013. He stayed as a visiting professor at Charles University and General University Hospital, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Head: Prof.Dr.Dr. Rene Foltan) in Prague/Czech Republic in 2016. He also recently stayed as a visiting professor at Boston University Henry M. Dr. Aakshay Gulati

Mr Aakshay Gulati is a dually qualified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery in 1996 and worked in a series of hospital posts in oral surgery around the London region for five years, successfully obtaining the Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDSRCS), awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2001
Thereafter he graduated in Medicine (MBBS) from King’s College London in 2006 and completed generic surgical training, which culminated in the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2009. His higher surgical training in oral and maxillofacial surgery was based in the south coast of England and this led to the award of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FRCS-OMFS) in 2014. He has completed a head and neck and microvascular reconstruction fellowship in a renowned centre in Munich in 2012 and was subsequently also selected for the highly coveted national interface head and neck fellowships. He has also developed an interest in implantology and has completed advanced training in the field.
Mr Gulati is the clinical tutor for oral and maxillofacial surgery in East Grinstead. He is on the review panel and has publications in various peer reviewed journals. He is passionate about teaching and regularly lectures in oral and maxillofacial surgery and implantology. He has had the opportunity of being invited as guest lecturer and keynote speaker on head and neck reconstruction at international scientific meetings.
Mr Gulati was the recipient of the Leibinger Prize in 2012. He is also actively involved with leadership roles as an executive board member of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery.
Mr Gulati’s surgical interests lie in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction, salivary gland surgery, surgical dermatology, complex oral surgery and implantology. His clinics are based in East Grinstead and the Medway region, and he is also a member of the West Kent Head and Neck Multidisciplinary team.

Born in Istanbul in 1974 Dr. Emes graduated from Istanbul University faculty of dentistry in 1997 and complated his PhD degree in Istanbul University faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2005. He has papers published in international and national scientific journals, including research articles on implantology, oroantral fistulas, odontogenic cysts and temporomandibular disorders. Dr. Emes in currently working as a full-time academic staff in Istanbul University faculty of Dentistry Department od Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Mehmet Kürkçü

Mehmet Kürkcü was born in 1966 in Gebze / Kocaeli. He graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1988 following elementary, secondary and high school education in Ankara. He started as a research assistant in Selçuk University, Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department in the same year. He completed his MSc. education in University of London, United Medical and Dental School, Guy’s Hospital, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dept. and Eastman Dental Hospital and St.George Hospital. between 1992 and 1995. He received his PhD. in Selçuk University Dentistry Faculty in 1997. Mehmet Kürkcü completed his military service at Ankara 600-bed Air Hospital between 1997 and 1998. He is currently an academic member in Çukurova University, Faculty of Dentistry.
